for a daily run about car, machine the front discs for your brake shudder, put a decent set of 17's or 18's or even just EL XR wheels, DROP IT! and ur set. ;)

well done for saving another e-series, its sad to see how many of them with straight bodies go to pick-a-part.

Postby YBYAVL » November 20th, 2008, 10:36 am

so with the end of the silver car, im sick of driving this green snotbox bucket of shit,
as most of yuz have read...this was/is/might be/maybe/still dont no yet if its forsale
i decided to transfer all the gear from the silver banga into this to make it a lil more comfortable to drive :)

it all started with this pile of shit i had at work
Image
so out came the factory ED motor
Image
and in went the factory stok EL engine
Image
interior had to go
Image
kept the analog guages, jus put the cleaner glass on it (planning toput digi dash back in at a later stage)
Image
change complete dash's for the EB's charcoal 1
Image
slapped in the fairmont rear seats
Image
Image
boltd down the moza seats
Image
then came the next problem with the car...its auto!
so after arguing with pat for an hour thats its easier pull the EL engine/auto out as 1 an slot in my other EL Engine/5speed as 1...but nooo, its easier jus to change the box he sez...
so i sez to him, either u do it ur way or ill do it my way...
as a result, heres pat underneath the car doing it his way
Image
i still rekn my ways easier wen uve got both complete engine/box's sittin there readty to change but ahwell, it onli took 5hrs lol
with the manual in and workin, the steering wheel was the next mod
Image
then it was off to the wreckers to build a diff
Donar car #1
4.11's from a pinatra
Image
Donar car #2
Diff housing from an EA
Image
Donar car #3
28spline axels from an ED
Image
Image
and a mini spool
Image
Image
slap the gears in
Image
set the backlash
i got no pix of boltin the diff in, but trust me...its in there :P
so with the car goin not too shabby (refer to the FS thread)
i thought fuk it, lets give it sum gas!!!
Image
bought a Sniper Wet Shot kit for V8 (75 - 150hp)
and in it went within half an hour of gettin back to the factory
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
wat nitrous??
Image
ohh, that nitrous..
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

so there u have it....my new an improoved $2000 shitheap
ill let yuz no how it goes at calder wen i race it, id like to take it b4 i run 9 bottles thru it...
ive pulled the ghia rims off to polish them an rap'em in sum new rubber
and raised the ass for roady

honestly...the 4.11s on the hwy cruizin, u dont even notice it....i sit on 2500 in 5th
an i still get around 400kz to a tank of LPG....ive usd a pintara crown gear
and a skyline center...pintara/skyline gears r the same....but pintaras/EA's are 25spline, skylines/EBII onwards r 28slpine, so ye, either Pintara/Skyline 4.11 with Skyline carrier in a EA housing with EB Axels and modfied lower control arms

takes 1hr tops to pull dash in/out change pedal box.
1hr to pull out the auto (auto changeover 2hrs)
1hr to fit the manual.
1hr for the nibble bits like cable/shifter/console etc etc

if you aint mechanically minded. maybe 3 days :P

last manual conversion i did... i didnt support the auto.. just let it fall on the ground from a 6ft hoist.. was awesome hahahha :D
