eseries = old, rattley and plain shitboxes

dont get me wrong....i love my eseries....esp now with more enjoyable power....but at the end of the day its still an eseries

bseries = still built by ford...so still built to a price....give them a few years and they will be eseries....they are easier to mod and refined....but still shit

want something thats powerful, smooth and built to last id try something european....

at the end of the day this is a pointless argument....id put my choice down to $$$....go with what you can offord....not what's cool and not cool to own.

I agree with pretty much everything that BRADMAN says, but I'd replace "european" with Japanese.

I will, however, stick up for the e-series a little bit here and say, at least EA's took 10-15 years for the centre console lids to become loose while I've driven many BA's at work that have looser and noisier interior parts and fitment than a lot of e-series already. That together with the price of a BA MkII onwards is what keeps me away from the b-series.

Those talking about euro and jap cars are missing the point. If you had 15-20k would u dump it on a e-series or buy a turbo b-series. That's what it's about.

Bingo. You'd have to be a ignorant elitist snob to think all Aussie cars are shit. Like BRADMAN says it's all about what you can afford. I don't think you can go past an Aussie car for value for money, but of course there's always gonna be something better if you've got the cash. You could drive a Veyron and call Porsches shit. But again that's just fucken stupid - it's all down to cost vs benefit.

Well, if I still had my EA in the same condition it was, I doubt I'd get rid of it for a generic BA that is the same as everyone else's, except for perhaps buying a sensible BA Futura or similar daily driver. There is emotional appeal in older cars, especially one with a lot of history from one's childhood etc. An XY GTHO costs 10 times the price of an FG GT-P despite being about a tenth of the car in every measurable area like performance, braking, drivability etc.

However, if starting off today, BA is the best value for money starting point. The real question will come in another few years when the cycle repeats, and everyone is debating throwing out their crappy old BAs for a 2010 XR6T or similar. I think the ultimate question is whether to buy into the 'throw away' mentality or not. In 20 years I'm sure a good BA will be a desirable classic.

and it would still be worth less than 5grand
eseries dont have resale or insurrance value

so to answer your question sunny....you would be silly not to spend 10-15grand on a bseries because at least you have a chance to recover 50%+ of mods you put into it....putting that sorta cash into eseries is a huge gamble...ive done it so i know....next time around id spend that money on something newer and insurable. :)

Its a stupid thread.

I could buy a Cressida and put a 1J in it, and it will be faster then a E-series (even a B-Series) I could buy a Celsior and it would be more comfortable. But that's not the point. If people went out and just played with the latest greatest the car scene would be boring. I suppose you shouldn't do up X series falcons because you could buy a B Series.

It was sold and complied as an EA back between 1987-90. So yep its still an EA. even know its a very sexy looking one.

Although EAs were launched in March of 1988 there is still 1987 Plated EAs (Cause ford would of been in production of them before release).

As for my context changing. They are still an EA. Sexyness, Mods, Turbos or not they are still a 20 yr old Falcon with alot of bad reports.

And Rymers EA is a good looking EA, with lots of work, and very good head turner and an awesome car. Its an EA. No offence to him.

I guess in the future then, GT-Ps and F6s and people's custom projects which started out as XTs but are like the 2020 version of Rmyers' EA will be "just BAs". Coz they had bad reports about diffs & handbrakes & warped rotors & shit back in the day.

People do start to get over '80s new-car recalls etc when a car is 20+ years old and everything has been replaced. As a matter of fact, to the person on the street it doesn't matter what the car "just" is - if it is individual, looks good, goes well etc they will give it the respect it deserves. Thankfully the arrogant/elitist thing is for the most part limited to people sitting behind their computers on forums.

Weight and ease of modding are the only two things going for the E-series. xr6t's have swung the pendullum in the B-series favour with cheap nasty tunes.
N/A is the way to go for reliability IMO. Personaly I'd rather have a car that is 1 second slower down the 1/4 mile that goes for 200,000km, then a turbanator that only goes 100,000km.

haha i love the "get over it" attitude you bring to everything. if you think any part of what i said was me seriously trying to have a go at someone over liking B-series then you are an idiot. was merely pointing out i wouldn't drive a BF ghia over a turbo e-series. on a side note, visibility out of a B-series compared to any E-series is bloody shocking

Good luck with that.

I'd happily build an engine every 50,000km if it meant I could do 11z any time I wanted in that 50,000km. Some people just like to go fast :D

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.
